The MCPED’s business retention program is carried out by experienced staff who know the challenges that businesses face in their day-to-day operations or as they seek to grow. The primary focus of the retention program is to serve manufacturers and technology-based businesses.
Broad range of free and confidential services available to companies, focusing on those that are of immediate relevance to the client
In an effort to maximize our efficiency, retention visits are most often made jointly with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Through these visits, MCPED staff and MEDC account managers have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with business owners to identify assistance needs and gain insights into the forces that shape our economy.
In the course of the typical visit, the retention client provides a description of the product or services of the firm, and describes details of problems or challenges to be addressed. In response, staff will explain the broad range of free and confidential services available to companies, focusing on those that are of immediate relevance to the client. The successful retention visit is one where a relationship has been established, such that when growth opportunities or problems arise in the future, the client’s first call is to the MCPED.
