Philis DeSaele was re-elected in November 2006 to represent the residents of District 10 in northern Sterling Heights and the City of Utica. She was fist elected to the board in 1990 and the 2007-08 term is her ninth two-year term.
She is chair of the County Board’s Health Services Committee and is a member of the Budget, Finance, Personnel, Community Services, Operational Services, Planning & Economic Development and Senior Citizen Services committees.
DeSaele is known for her strong advocacy of water quality, senior citizens and health issues. She is a charter member of the Macomb County Water Quality Board, which is responsible for overseeing water quality and making recommendations to the County Board, local governments, and the state and federal governments. She also serves on the St. Clair-Macomb Water Quality Board.
She also is a charter member of the Macomb County Historical Commission, where she champions the preservation of county history and educating children about the region’s heritage.
DeSaele, 63, is a graduate of Clintondale High School in Clinton Township and attended Macomb Community College. She has lived in Sterling Heights since 1975, three years before marrying her late husband Roger.
She lives with her cherished dog Cinnamon.
