David Flynn was elected in November 2006 to represent the residents of District 8 in southwest Sterling Heights. The 2007-08 term is his first on the County Board and is his first elective office.
Flynn is a lifelong resident of Sterling Heights.
Flynn attended Warren Consolidated Schools where he graduated from Sterling Heights High School in 2004. He is currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Michigan State University.
A Democrat, Flynn gained experience interning for U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) and State Sen. Michael Switalski (D-Roseville). He also worked for the Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development.
Flynn’s community involvement includes work as a coordinator for Green Michigan, a non-profit environmental group that promotes community recycling efforts.
He also participates in the City of Sterling Heights’ Adopt-A-Road program, where he helps clean a two-mile stretch of Ryan Road between 14 and 16 Mile roads.
At 21, Flynn, who is single, is the youngest commissioner ever elected to the County Board (he was 20 on Election Day 2006).
