Arts 'n Scraps will accept the crayons you have collected through the Macomb County Green Schools Program. Why recycle crayons? More than 12 million crayons are made in the U.S. every day. 100 new Crayons equal approximately 1 pound - 12 million crayons equal 120,000 pounds - that means 60 tons of crayons are made every day with petroleum based material which eventually ends up in landfills.
Arts 'n Scraps takes unwanted, rejected, broken crayons to a better place, where they’ll be recycled into new projects.

The New School Recycling Program is in its second year serving Michigan schools with on-site recycling of plastic (#1 PET) bottles and aluminum drink containers. To date, hundreds of thousands of recyclable bottles and cans have been recovered with the program through participation in local school districts.
