The Macomb County Reference and Research Center (MCRRC), (formerly the Macomb County Library), is gearing up for its first term of classes in its
shared facility with Wayne State University.
“We are excited about this new partnership and welcoming new patrons from Wayne State, as well as seeing our long-time patrons coming back to us,” said Manager Sandy Casamer. “No other public library offers what we offer in terms of databases.”
Located in the newly-renovated WSU Macomb Education Center at 16480 Hall Road, the
Reference and Research Center offers 75 databases to the public, as well as access to
databases from Wayne State University: some resources for small and medium sized
businesses include the Small Business Resource Center, and Business Decision Pro; while
investment resources include Standard and Poor’s Net Advantage, Morningstar, Valueline, and
theStreet.com. Patrons can learn a foreign language using Byki Language, or use Greenr,
which provides new and valuable information on the development of emerging green
technologies and discusses issues on the environment, energy, sustainability and more.
The MCRRC also maintains a 2,000-volume reference collection, wireless internet access, and 12 internet terminals for public use. It also has databases accessible through its new Web address: www.macombreference.org .
The Macomb County Reference and Research Center is a public service of the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. In 2009, the Board partnered with Wayne State University in a joint agreement to preserve essential library services while eliminating services duplicated by municipal libraries.
Macomb County residents further benefit from Wayne State University’s
pledge to expand higher education programs and opportunities in Macomb County.
The building also shares space with Macomb Literacy Partners, and Macomb Library for the
Blind and Physically Handicapped.
