The Department of Planning and Economic Development is honored to welcome Advanced Integrated Tooling Solutions to our distinguished and growing community of Aerospace Sector firms. AITS is the new Michigan-based subsidiary of Advanced Integrated Technology, headquartered in Plano, Texas. The parent company, founded in 1992, is a global leader in the design, engineering, manufacture and installation of systems for the automated assembly of aerospace structures, including fuselage, wings, and empennage.
AITS is today settling into its new home, a 312,000 square foot facility in Chesterfield Township’s North Bay Park of Industry. At this site, the company will be producing custom equipment, machines and tooling used in the manufacture and assembly of commercial, personal, and military aircraft. AITS also plans to employ its expertise in precision fabrication, machining and assembly to address the tooling needs of other high-technology industries that are growing here in Macomb County and across the Great Lakes region.
The Chesterfield Township facility, which is anticipated to create more than 200 jobs over the next five years, will be paired-up operationally with a sister facility in Vancouver, British Columbia. With their combined capabilities, these facilities will engage in work on the company’s recently won contracts, including such programs as the Airbus A350, Spirit AeroSystems A350, Bombardier Learjet 85, and the Lockheed Martin F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. As the predominant integrator and prime contractor to the world’s foremost aerospace firms, the company’s systems can be found installed worldwide.
The Department of Planning and Economic Development takes great pride in having helped bring AITS to Macomb County. Working in close cooperation with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Macomb Community College, Michigan Works!, and the Township of Chesterfield, the department was successful in demonstrating to AITS, and convincing them, for all of the most compelling reasons, that Macomb County was the right place for them to locate within Southeast Michigan. The county’s skilled and ready workforce, established employee-training and education infrastructure, existing and potential supply-chain partners, and a pervading attitude that embraces the challenges of growing a technology-based economy all make for a most persuasive case to choose Macomb County.
