Planning Begins for 2010 CDBG

Macomb County began planning its 2010 CDBG program with a workshop for non-profit organizations on October 31.  Non-profits typically provide services or community facilities that serve lower-income residents of the County.  Applications are due to the County on December 4.  They will then be forwarded to 21 participating communities for consideration and selection.

On December 7 the County also hosted a workshop for participating communities which will hold public hearings and select activities, including non-profit services, constructing or repairing public infrastructure (streets, sidewalks, water, sewer, parks, and parking facilities), community facilities (senior and neighborhood centers and homeless shelters), by the end of February.  The County will submit its CDBG application to the Federal government on May 17.  The program begins on July 1.  The amount of funding has not yet been provided to the County.
