Steve Cassin, Executive Director, Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Department, recently participated in the Automation Alley trade mission to Israel. Also on the trip were representatives from Oakland County, Lawrence Tech University, Automation Alley, and several metropolitan area businesses. The purpose of the trip was to explore mutually beneficial business relationships between Israel and our region.
During the trade mission, participants toured Better Place, a global provider of electronic vehicle networks and services; met with the chief scientist at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor; explored the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology (Israel's ‘MIT'); met with world-renowned physicians and research scientists at Hadassah Medical Center; and visited several high-tech and defense-related Israeli companies with expressed interest in partnering with Michigan-based businesses.
"We received a very warm reception from the firms and individuals with which we met, and are building a network with those interested in facilitating business in Macomb County," says Cassin. “We discussed the opportunities for Israeli companies to partner with Macomb County companies, particularly in our targeted industry sectors of advanced manufacturing and defense, and we are very optimistic about the results of the mission”.
