Macomb County Department of Planning & Economic Development’s former “Economic Development Activities Map” has adopted a whole new format while providing an encouraging capsulation of recent investment activities.
The “Macomb County Economic Investment Activity Map” has morphed into an attractive tool for sharing the good news about the number of companies that have expanded or located operations in the county. It describes not only the types of investment by that has occurred in recent months but also lists 36 companies that have enhanced their presence here. Overall, the map paints a bright picture of the current level of economic activity in the county.
For instance, building acquisitions and expansion and renovation projects, coupled with the equipment purchases, have totaled more than $308 million in 2007 to date. The map helps to pinpoint where investment has occurred. Using a dot matrix system, the map illustrates that investment is occurring in Warren and Armada and everywhere in between.

his investment means much more than enhancing tax revenue for local government and schools; it also means that more than 5,000 jobs were retained or created AND that spin-off jobs were positively affected as well.
Investments have been categorized based on the Targeted Industries Report that was commissioned in 2006 by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners. The report, compiled by IntelliTrends emphasizes the importance of placing almost equal effort into three important activities.

Working to attract “Leap Growth” industry – those with outstanding potential to take full advantage of Macomb County’s business climate and existing workforce.
