The Mall at Partridge Creek

Did we time the launch of our eNewsletter to coincide with grand opening of the newest place to experience shops, dining and people watching?  Not intentionally but the much-anticipated The Mall at Partridge Creek is OPEN.

The mall, built at a cost of $155 million by Taubman Centers (NYSE:TCO), offers 640,000 square feet of shopping bliss with a total of 90 unique and special places to shop, dine and play.

A sold-out crowd of 2,000 attended a special charity preview on October 17th.  Proceeds from the $50 tickets benefited local agencies including Turning Point, Macomb Literacy Partners, and the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts

Lured by a glitzy marketing campaign to “Seek the Creek,” an estimated 175,000 shoppers turned out for the grand opening weekend to experience the gardens, fountains, bocce ball courts and children’s play area.  Dog friendly, many were joined by leashed and well-behaved pooches.

Robbie Stark, General Manager, confirms that the weekend was a huge success.  “One third of the stores in the mall set record-breaking sales for grand openings.  The results have been so spectacular that the CEO of The Limited, parent company to Victoria’s Secret, is coming in to see the mall for himself. ”

Partridge Creek offers nearly 90 retail stores and restaurants.  Some made their Michigan debut at the corner of Garfield and Hall Road including a dazzling Calvin Klein store (straight from Madison Avenue in New York City), Skechers and a Sur La Table, a store with everything for the “art and soul of cooking” and others.

Others are new to Macomb County.  Are you someone who used to travel west on Metropolitan Parkway to shop at Sephora?  No more-a!  Other shops new to Macomb include Ann Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Bose, Lucky Brand Jeans, Moosejaw and others.

Foodies aren’t left out at The Creek either.  There are 14 tantalizing places to stop including Auntie Anne’s Pretzels and the long-awaited P.F. Chang’s China Bistro

The Taubman Company has experience building success in Macomb County.  Long time Macombers remember when the 1.7 million square foot Lakeside Mall rose out of the sod farm fields more than 31 years ago.   Worried that Lakeside will be left in the dust?  Don’t be.  A new special assessment district approved by Sterling Heights City Council will make an estimated $3 million available for improvements.   Combined with nearly 900 other places to shop, dine and be entertained along Hall Road, M-59 is destined to increase its attraction as a major destination for people throughout southeast Michigan and beyond.
