E-Macomb
progress through partnerships

The Clinton River Connection project is a collaborative venture between Macomb County, Oakland County, the Clinton River Watershed Council and ten municipalities (Auburn Hills, Lake Orion, Orion, Rochester, Rochester Hill, Romeo, Shelby, Utica and Washington Township) within the Clinton River Watershed. The goal of the project is to promote the use of the many recreational and educational opportunities pertaining to water, trails, history, and commerce within the watershed. The project seeks to stimulate economic development and education through promoting the rich assets within the Clinton River Watershed that make this region a special place to live, work, play and do business.
The first phase of this project focuses on the "Joining Creeks" area, which includes the confluence of 3 trails, 4 creeks, and 5 historic towns. The Clinton River, Paint Creek, and Macomb Orchard Trail, along with the Paint Creek, Stony Creek, Sargent Creek, and Galloway Creek, connect the Clinton River and the historic towns of Lake Orion, Rochester, Auburn Heights, Romeo, and Utica. Myriad opportunities for enjoying the amenities in these areas are often under appreciated and overlooked.

MCPED also has printed copies available, please come visit us on the 7th Floor of the County Administration Building.
The next phase of the project will entail an expansion of the number of featured places to encompass the entire Clinton River Watershed area. This information will be maintained within an interactive Web site that will allow residents and visitors to explore all of the natural and cultural assets our region shares while supporting the surrounding communities and businesses.
