The Macomb Orchard Trail

The Department is actively involved in the planning and development of pedestrian trails and connectors throughout the County. Located in the abandoned Canadian National Rail Road corridor, the Macomb Orchard Trail is named after the many historically significant orchards that dot the surrounding landscape. MCPED meets and works with local municipalities to develop the trail and gain support for its completion. The trail will be 10 feet wide and will have asphalt in suburban and city areas and crushed stone in the rural areas. Phase I of the trail was completed on July 26, 2004. Phases II and III are under construction. Once completed, the 23.5-mile trail will provide users with a safe, pedestrian friendly environment where they can exercise and explore the scenic urban and rural landscapes of Macomb County, free from cars and other motorized vehicles.

Countywide Trails Master Plan
The Countywide Trails Master Plan aims to develop a unified and coordinated vision for non-motorized transportation planning and development in Macomb County.
