Macomb County MSU Extension offers a variety of nutrition-related services, available at little or no cost to participants.

Nutrition services programs are offered by Macomb MSU Extension’s Food & Nutrition program area.  Below is a listing of the programs provided.

Food & Nutrition Programs:

Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP):
Is open to income-eligible Macomb County residents and offers one-on-one teaching or group presentations on daily nutrient needs, food shopping basics, menu planning, label reading, stretching food dollars, healthy lifestyle tips, avoiding portion distortion, adding variety to your diet and understanding the food groups.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for Seniors (SNAP-Ed):
Is open to income-eligible Macomb County seniors and offers one-on-one and group classes on controlling sodium, cholesterol and fat, cooking for one, daily nutrient needs, label reading, menu planning, and food shopping basics.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for Youth (SNAP-Ed Youth):
Is open to eligible schools and community summer day programs and offers fun, interactive classroom activities and games that teach the food pyramid, daily nutrient needs, healthy snacking, fat facts, food safety guidelines, how to read food labels and more.
