Master Gardener

The next Master Gardener Program will be starting August 28 through November 12, 2012.  The program manual is currently being updated.

Following is information regarding the Macomb County MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training Program. You are encouraged to enroll in the program in your county of residence. For more information see the Master Gardener web site at http://web1.msue.msu.edu/master gardener/ .

The Macomb MSU Extension Master Gardener Volunteer Training program is held in the VerKuilen Building located at 21885 Dunham Rd. in Clinton Twp. The cost of $300.00 (subject to change) includes all materials and registration. Partial scholarships are available. The MSUE Master Gardener is a volunteer training program and the only requirement is that you agree to commit to 40 hours community service.  Call us at 586-469-5063 or 586-469-6440 if you have any questions.

Pesticide Applicator Training

Programs and examinations will be conducted in the Macomb County MSUE Assembly Room, VerKuilen Building, 21885 Dunham Road, Suite 12, Clinton Township, MI  48036.  Use Entrance E or F by the large satellite dish.  Programs are open to residents of any county by sending in the attached registration form (click here) with your payment to reach this office no later than one week before the program you wish to attend.  You must bring your recertification paperwork, certification number and a photo ID with you to take the examination.  Manuals are for sale at the MSU Extension office.

Macomb County MSUE Spring Plant Exchange

Held annually FIRST SATURDAY in June from 9 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of the VerKuilen Building, 21885 Dunham Road in Clinton Township.  MSU Extension's (MSUE) Master Gardeners are hosting the Annual Spring Plant Exchange.  Bring your healthy plant material to exchange with other gardeners at our office: perennials, herbs, seeds, bulbs, house plants.  Rain or shine, we'll be out there! 

The general public is welcome to attend.   No registration necessary.  For more information, call the MSUE Gardening Hotline at 586-469-5063, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:00 am until 4:00 pm..

Please label all plant material with plant name and growing information.   Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer questions. Come enjoy demonstrations in the Demo-Garden. Bring one of your favorite plants to donate to the "Plants for a Purpose" project. Bring soil samples to be sent to MSU for nutrient analysis for a fee.
