Wetlands: Now and Forever?

What are wetlands?  Do they have value and functions in today's community?  Should wetlands be protected?

How can communities protect wetlands?  This program will answer these questions and more and will include a wetlands demonstration using the EnviroScape Wetlands Model.

Wetland issues are a growing concern locally, nationally and internationally.  More than 60 percent of southeast Michigan and 75 percent of Macomb County wetlands have been destroyed.  This program defines wetlands, examines the variety of wetland functions and provides other important information on wetlands so citizens can make informed decisions on wetland management in their communities.
