Michael Boyle was elected in November 2008 to a two-year term representing the residents of District 24 in northern St. Clair Shores. The 2009-10 term is his first on the Board of Commissioners.
Boyle’s priorities are to maintain a balanced budget while retaining as many essential services as possible.
First elected to the St. Clair Shores City Council in November 1997, Boyle served until September 2005. He served on many boards and commissions during that time, including eight years as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Boyle currently works as a mechanic for Suburban Mobility Authority for Regional Transportation (SMART) and is a member of UAW Local 771. He also holds a real estate license and is a licensed master mechanic. He is certified by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as a water safety instructor and by the U.S. Power Squadron as an instructor.
Boyle formerly served as president and lieutenant governor of Shorewood Kiwanis. He also is past charter commander of the St. Clair Shores Sail and Power Squadron. He continues to teach safe boating classes. Boyle is a charter member of the Lakeshore Foundation for Educational Excellence and once served the organization as a director.
Boyle, 56, is a lifelong resident of St. Clair Shores and a graduate of Lakeshore High School.
