Senior Fun Festival at Gibraltar Trade Center

  June 17-2011 -- Commissioner Vosburg talked with county residents at the 2011 Senior Fun Festival held at Gibraltar Trade Center. The event featured more than 100 exhibitors, free health screening, bingo and dancing, among other activities.
     
   

 

Chesterfield Elementary - Daisy Troop #70348

 

June 2011 -- Commissioner Vosburg is pictured here with Girl Scout Daisy Troop #70348 from Chesterfield Elementary. The girls and their parents took time out to mark about 75 storm drains in Chesterfield Twp. with decals reminding people to be mindful of what we allow into our water source. Commissioner Vosburg is actively involved in storm drain marking and educational outreach.

 

Green Elementary

 
05/25/11 -- Commissioner Vosburg recently conducted some storm drain/water pollution education at Chesterfield Twp's Green Elementary. Kathy spoke to Robin Ruzicska's 3rd grade class, and she and Julie Gonyeau (pictured) from the township's Public Works department took the students out to show them where rainwater goes, and what happens to wastewater once it goes in the drain. Commissioner Vosburg also talked about energy conservation and read a book about recycling to the students.

Honoring Otis Hopson

3/24/11 -- Commissioner Vosburg is pictured here with 93 year-old Otis Hopson,

who has worked as a shoe shiner at the Macomb County Courthouse for 20 years.

Mr. Hopson was commended for his service by the Board of Commissioners and

received a resolution in his honor.

March is Reading Month

 
  March 2011 --- Commissioner Vosburg Honored National Reading Month with visits to a Head Start program and elementary schools around Macomb County. She is pictured here reading "A is for Abigail" and "Pigsty" to students at Atwood Elementary and Carkenord Elementary.

1/20/11 -- At the Board of Commissioners' first meeting of 2011, the Board presented Circuit Court Judge Donald Miller with a resolution upon his retirement after serving 12 years on the bench. Also in attendance was his wife, Candice Miller, who serves as U.S. Representative for Michigan's 10th congressional district.

  1/21/11 -- Commissioner Vosburg was one of many businessmen and women and community leaders who came together to hear the county's 2011 economic forecast by MCC President Jim Jacobs at Zuccaro Banquet Hall in Chesterfield.
