Elmer's Glue Crew Recycling Program:

Save the bottles. Save the sticks. Save the planet.

Nearly 1.2 Million students across all 50 states last year collected glue bottles and glue sticks to recycle through the Elmer's Glue Crew Recycling Program.  This school year, the program has set a collection goal of 2 million glue bottles and glue sticks.

Elmer's Glue Crew Recycling Program is a hands-on way to teach about recycling. Program participants have access to helpful recycling-related curriculum and fun projects to keep kids excited about recycling. To learn more about the program, including the opportunity to compete for a Grand Prize, and gain access to the 2009-2010 Teacher Planning Calendar, click here.

Many thanks to Karen Fraeyman of South River Elementary School for sharing the information about this program.  Click here to see a photo of one of the school's recycling containers which were hand-painted by their art teacher, Mr. Lees.

Renewable Schools Program:

Energy Works Michigan (Energy Works) is a non-profit technical resource helping to build foundational capacities in the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries. Energy Works has been awarded a grant by the Michigan Public Service Commission to implement renewable energy and energy efficiency measures at K-12 schools throughout Michigan. The Michigan Renewable Schools Program is a 2-year program through June 17th, 2011.

Energy Works has developed a coordinated set of programs for Michigan public and private K-12 schools designed to demonstrate energy technologies, raise public awareness, and educate the next generation so that they can fully contribute to meeting and exceeding the 2030 and 2050 carbon reduction targets.
