OAKLAND MACOMB INTERCEPTOR
Pictured above is a wide angle photo of a giant shaft being
constructed near Common and Schoenherr roads in Warren
to provide access for rehabilitation of the Oakland Macomb
Interceptor. The shaft, 53 feet in diameter, will reach 85
feet below ground where it will tap into the 12 foot, 9 inch
diameter interceptor that carries flow from 830,000 cust-
omers in the Macomb and Oakland sewer districts. The
$144 million repair project is designed to restore the struc-
tural integrity of the interceptor system and prevent cata-
strophic failures in service.
