The Macomb County Health Department provides tuberculosis screening, diagnosis, treatment and follow - up for residents of Macomb County. PPD skin testing is available through the Macomb County Tuberculosis Testing Program (click here). Persons with a new or recent positive PPD skin test can be evaluated for further screening through the TB Control Program (586) 469-5421.

During the calendar year of 2007 there were twenty-two (22) cases of active Tuberculosis identified in Macomb County. In 2007, one (1) case of multi-drug resistant Tuberculosis and one (1) case of drug resistant Tuberculosis have been identified in Macomb County. Macomb County's 2007 case rate for Tuberculosis per 100,000 people is 2.5. Macomb County's case rate is slightly higher than the state-wide case rate of 1.8. 2007 case rates for surrounding counties are: Oakland County 1.8, Wayne County 1.2 and the City of Detroit 5.3. All case rates are taken from the Michigan Disease Surveillance System (MDSS). |
