Head Start Volunteer Opportunities

Head Start is a free preschool program for income eligible families with three and four year old children. There are 44 classrooms located throughout Macomb County that enjoy having volunteers spend time with the children. Here are some of the activities volunteers can help with in the classroom:

• read with individual children

• work in the art area (cutting, painting, gluing)

• assist in the table top toy area

• assist children with learning skills of zipping, buttoning, shoe tying

• assist at the wood working table

• play games with children that foster literacy skills

• assist in the computer area 

• share a special talent, hobby, interest

• story-telling
