Special Projects

Macomb County Community Services Agency - Macomb Food Program

Volunteers are needed at the Macomb Food Program's warehouse to sort and re-box donated food products that will be distributed to its network of 53 pantry distribution sites. Families and individuals who reside in Macomb County that are in need of emergency food are directed to one of these 53 sites to pick up a food box. Volunteers will sort the food at the warehouse by major food type from large 4' x 4' Gaylord totes into smaller manageable size boxes. Sorters should be able to read and follow simple directions. Sorters cannot wear shorts or open toe shoes. It is helpful, but not necessary if sorters could lift approximately 35-pound boxes.

Schedule of available times for food sorters: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other times are available for groups. Sorters coming in for the first time need a 10-minute orientation prior to volunteering.

Please call Sue or Karen at 586-469-6004 for additional information or to set up an orientation.
