Volunteer provides transportation to clients for medical appointments when other options have been exhausted. Referrals are usually made by DHS, but occasionally come from hospital physicians, other agencies, or a family member. Transporters are sometimes called upon to provide pick-up and delivery service for volunteers services. The volunteer 's own vehicle is used to provide this service and they are reimbursed or gas mileage via the agency reimbursement rate. Hours vary depending on the availability of the volunteer and need of the client.
