Local Administrative Order No. 2002-3
In re Alternate Judge
The efficient administration of business of the Court calls for a system for the transaction of the business of the Court and the handling of all miscellaneous matters in the Court in the absence of regularly assigned judges;
Therefore, the judges of the Circuit Court Bench and the Family Division whose chambers are located in the Circuit Court building, with the exception of the Chief Judge, shall serve as "alternate judge" from week to week in rotation. The alternate judge shall have the responsibility of handling the business of the Court in the absence of the other judges and shall handle miscellaneous matters.
When the designated alternate judge becomes unavailable during court hours for any reason, a matter may be referred to the Presiding Judge of the Division to which the case is assigned. If the designated alternate judge becomes unavailable during court hours, it shall be the responsibility of the designated alternate judge to designate, in writing, an available temporary alternate judge and notify affected staff. Staff shall likewise be notified when the regularly designated alternate judge resumes the responsibility of alternate judge.
Administrative Order 1999-5 is repealed.
This order is effective on May 1, 2002.
Peter J. Maceroni, Chief Judge
