Video Recording of Court
Proceedings
The courtrooms of the Honorable Mary A. Chrzanowski, John C. Foster, Donald G. Miller, Tracey A. Yokich, and David F. Viviano are equipped with sound activated cameras. A videotape record of all court proceedings is produced in this manner. Judges Antonio P. Viviano and Diane M. Druzinski generally utilize a court reporter, but also have video systems.
Any film or electronic media coverage in the videotape record courtrooms and any broadcast of a videotape record is governed by the guidelines set out in the Michigan Supreme Court's Caseflow Management Standards.
When
a proceeding has been recorded by one of these systems, copies of the videotape
or a written transcript or both may be requested.
Copies of Video Proceedings
A copy of video proceedings on CD can be ordered for $25.00 per day of proceedings, or VHS videotape for $35.00 per day of proceedings. Requests are made through Trish H and Sue Nyboer in Court Administration on the "Request for Copy of Video Proceedings" form. The form is available on the Court's Website, in the video courtrooms, or at Court Administration. A request in writing in another format will be accepted if all of the needed information is received. The requesting person must identify the date and judge's courtroom for which a copy is sought. The individual proceeding need not be identified, because a copy of the day's proceedings is made, not specific cases. Payment must be submitted with the request. Checks must be made payable to 'Macomb County.' A copy will be dubbed from the official record within a reasonable time. We do not provide excerpts of selected proceedings. You can reach Court Administration at (586) 469-5204 or (586) 469-6039 for more information.
Transcripts of Video Proceedings
Transcripts of video proceedings
may be ordered through Rebecca Russell at (586) 469-5047. A written request, including the date, time,
and presiding judge, along with a deposit, is required before the record
can be transcribed.
Expedited requests for transcripts will be accommodated,
if possible. At least a two-day notice is required, along with a written request and deposit. An
additional fee is charged for expedited transcripts.
NOTE: You may also
purchase a videotape copy of the proceedings and hire an outside certified
court reporter to prepare a transcript in accordance with Michigan law.
