MACOMB COUNTY CLERK / REGISTER OF DEEDS

Status of Recorded Documents

Welcome to the Macomb County Register of Deeds "Status of Recorded Documents" page that shows the dates documents have been processed by the Register of Deeds office.

Indexed documents can be found in the Land Index Unverified (Daily) or the Land Index Verified (History) and are searchable in the Official Registry. Documents received , but not yet indexed, after the dates below may be found in the Electronic Entry Book until they are officially indexed.

Note: As documents are indexed, they are transferred from the Electronic Entry Book into the Official Registry.

Electronic Entry Book and Official Registry Use

To perform a document search:

1. Step One -- Search the Electronic Entry Book from today's date backwards until you get to the “Land Index Unverified Date.” This will give you all documents received by the Register of Deeds but not yet officially indexed from the present back through the date at which documents are currently being indexed.

2. Step Two -- Search the Official Registry. You must click on “Daily” and perform a search as well as the default “History” search. This will give you all of the documents currently recorded by the Register of Deeds from the certification date and earlier.

Note: All documents received by the Register of Deeds are viewable in the Electronic Entry Book upon receipt. As they are indexed they are moved from the Electronic Entry Book to the Official Registry. Documents are indexed using the first grantor and first grantee name before other terms are indexed, and searches on the first grantor and grantee may provide official registry results sooner than searches on other terms. It is possible that some documents will be searchable in the Official Registry the same date as received into the Electronic Entry Book due to indexing at the counter in the office.

After the general index date, the Electronic Entry Book contains only rejected documents that were not officially indexed. As a protection for filers against improper rejection, the Electronic Entry Book is searchable online for six months. After six months, the information is then removed from the Entry Book, archived on microfilm, and kept permanently in the Register of Deeds office. Entry Book search requests for documents filed more than six months ago may be made in writing to the Register of Deeds office or by calling 586-469-7953.
