Macomb County Disclosure Forms Available on Clerk's Web site

Carmella Sabaugh, Macomb County Clerk/Register of Deeds, announces that the public can now view Macomb County employee personal disclosure forms on the clerk’s Web site. Per the county Ethics Ordinance, all public servants (county employees, county-wide elected officials, commissioners, and appointees) are required to file these forms and the clerk must post them on the county’s Web site.

The Ethics Ordinance was written and adopted by the Macomb County Board of Commissioners on December 20, 2011. The Macomb County Board of Ethics, created by Article II of the Home Rule Charter of Macomb County, Michigan seeks to ensure all public servants of Macomb County comply with the Ethics Ordinance as well as all laws and policies of county government.

These disclosure forms can be viewed on Sabaugh’s Web site at: http://www.macombcountymi.gov/clerksoffice/disclosure/. They can be searched by name or department.

“The Ethics Board feels personal disclosure forms are a very important tool to sustain public trust and the integrity of government that prevails in Macomb County,” said Dr. Donald Amboyer, Chair of the Macomb County Ethics Board. He thanked Macomb County Clerk Carmella Sabaugh and her staff for making the personal disclosure forms so easily and readily available.

This is not the first time Sabaugh has made disclosure accessible. She publishes a “naughty list” of those in violation of campaign finance regulations on her Web site. Also, with a system hailed as the most transparent in Michigan, she enables voters to “follow the money” by searching individual and PAC contributions and even contributions from employees of companies by searching a company name.
