Effective May 25, 2012, the County of Macomb has transitioned to a new clerical testing model for General Clerical Aptitude, Microsoft Word and Excel.  Only those applicants selected for an interview will be tested and the results will be used as an evaluative tool in the hiring process.

The following testing guidelines will be in place for all full-time and part-time clerical support positions posted after May 25, 2012:

  • Clerical test scores will be valid and utilized for a one (1) year period from the date of test
  • Applicants must retest after that one (1) year period, if selected for an interview
  • Applicants are not eligible to retake the test during that one (1) year period
  • All test scores prior to May 25, 2012 are no longer valid
  • Temporary hires and temporary assignments will not require testing
  • Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by Human Resources and Labor Relations to complete evaluation tests for General Clerical Aptitude and Microsoft Word and Excel, before or on the day of the scheduled interview
  • Such contact will be made via the preferred method indicated in the applicant’s online application
