Brian Brdak was re-elected in November 2006 to represent the residents of District 14, which includes the cities of New Baltimore and Richmond, the Village of New Haven, Lenox Township, and the northern part of Chesterfield Township. The 2009-10 term is his third on the County Board.  Brdak is Chair of the Budget Committee and Pension Board and is active on the Water Quality Board and Solid Waste Planning Committee.  Brdak also initiated the Macomb County Green Schools program.

Brdak believes a clean environment is key to maintaining and improving the quality of life in Macomb County. He supports a ban on the dumping of Canadian trash in Macomb County landfills and plans to work toward improved water quality monitoring on area waterways. He also favors improvements to mass transit.

Brdak, 41, is director of Green Michigan, an organization that focuses on environmental education and awareness programs.

Before starting at Green Michigan, Brdak worked as an aide to former Congressman David Bonior, was a field representative for Seafarer’s International Union, a caseworker for the Macomb/St. Clair Private Industry Council (Michigan Works) and an assembly line worker at the Chrysler Warren Truck Plant for five years.

Brdak is a member of the New Baltimore Lions Club, the Bay-Rama Festival Committee, the Interfaith Center for Racial Justice, the New Baltimore Historical Society and the New Baltimore Goodfellows.

He also participates in the county Adopt-a-Road program, cleaning Gratiot Avenue between 24 and 25 Mile roads twice a year.

He has a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University and is a graduate of Anchor Bay High School.

Brdak and his wife Heather live in New Baltimore. They have two children.
