Macomb Food Program - Volunteers Needed
Volunteers are needed at the Macomb Food Program's warehouse to sort and re-box donated food products that will be distributed to its network of 55 pantry distribution sites.Volunteers will sort the food at the warehouse by major food type from large 4' x 4' Gaylord totes into smaller manageable size boxes. Sorters should be able to read and follow simple directions. Sorters cannot wear shorts or open toe shoes. It is helpful, but not necessary, if sorters could lift approximately 35 pound boxes.
Schedule of available times for food sorters: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Please call 586-469-6004 to schedule a time to volunteer.
The Food Program is able to purchase some food at reduced costs -- sometimes as little as 14¢ per pound! For every dollar the Food Program receives, it is able to purchase over two days worth of food.
