WSU School of Business Assistance Centers

The School of Business Assistance Center (SBAC) initiative, developed through Wayne State University, is in its third month of operation in Macomb County and has been going strong since inception.  SBAC is a consulting services group made up of MBA and advanced undergraduate business students, under the direction of faculty, which focuses on assisting existing organizations in the tri-county area of southeast Michigan.

SBAC works with businesses and non-profits looking for a variety of help in areas such as marketing, business strategy, process development, financial projections, funding analysis, and human resource development programs. Through the SBAC, student consultants are able to provide expertise and insight learned in the classroom to aid existing organizations in this ever-changing economy.

SBAC Macomb, one of three offices in the area, is currently working on seven projects for different clients, with more to come in the new year. Our clients are as diverse as manufacturing organizations and not-for-profit religious-based organizations. Our projects range from market research and business plan generation to marketing plan analysis and social media recommendations.
In addition, SBAC is happy to announce that we are in the final stages of work with our first client, WW Community Connections, a not-for-profit organization focused on community development and located in Macomb County. SBAC was able to assist WWCC by analyzing their business funding and grant processes, as well as their marketing activities, and offering suggestions for future utilization.  We look forward to watching WW Community Connections grow and being there to partner as new needs arise.

SBAC is actively seeking clients, so if you are interested in learning more about the program or would like to take advantage of SBAC’s services, please contact us. We would be happy to speak with you and determine our ability to help with your needs.  SBAC will consider all businesses for our program, but we require an EIN for non-profit organizations to verify 501c3 status.  SBAC typically does not work with start-up organizations on a project basis, but would be happy to provide any start-ups with our list of resources already existing in the community that will aid in the execution of their business idea.

SBAC can be reached at 586-493-4889 or sbac.macomb@wayne.edu.  Our office is on the 8th Floor of the Macomb County Administration Building, 1 South Main Street, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. Hours of operation are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Fridays.  Feel free to check out our Web site for additional program information and a direct link to the client interest survey.
