A Manufacturer that is purchasing new personal property or will be investing in new or expanded real property may qualify for an Industrial Facilities Exemption Tax.

A special tax exemption (Plant Rehabilitation District) may also be available to a manufacturer considering the reuse of an existing industrial building that suffers from significant functional obsolescence.

Tax-Exempt Industrial Development Revenue Bonds, issued through the Macomb County Economic Development Corporation, provide qualified manufacturers with low-interest financing for investments of $1.25 million or more (up to $20M).

The Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act allows Brownfield Redevelopment Authorities (BRA), such as the Macomb County BRA to authorize tax increment financing for the implementation of redevelopment projects.

The Brownfield Single Business Tax Credit provides an incentive in the form of a Single Business Tax credit (against the SBT liability of the developer) for up to 10 percent of the costs of eligible investment (including building, machinery and equipment) on brownfield property, up to a maximum credit of $30 million.

Under the Michigan Renaissance Zone Act the Michigan Economic Development Corporation can designate up to 25 tax free zones within the state.
