Aerial Imagery Program

1

Beginning in 2000, Macomb County GIS Services began obtaining digital orthophotography to support a wide range of county projects and programs.  The initial project captured all 27 Macomb County communities in the early spring of 2000.  The imagery captured was film based, black and white, leaf off with a six inch pixel resolution meeting national map accuracy standards for 1:1200 scale mapping.  A second digital, black and white flight meeting the same standards and covering the entire county was captured in the early spring of 2003.  In 2005 digital, full color, imagery was captured for the entire county through an extensive regional partnership with the South Eastern Michigan Council of Governments (SEMCOG).  This flight, conducted throughout the early and late spring of 2004, provided aerial imagery at the same specification as earlier flights, except that varying degrees of leaf cover exist throughout the Macomb County portion of the imagery.  Digital aerial imagery can be viewed online at the Macomb County Online Mapping Services site located at gis.macombcountymi.gov .  Click on the appropriate link for obtaining digital aerial imagery products or hardcopy aerial imagery products .
