Welcome to the MSU Extension 4-H Program in Macomb County. 4-H is a learn-by-doing, fun educational program designed to help youth in their growth and development and to complement experiences received at home, school, church and other youth organizations. Our goal is positive youth development that helps young people gain the skills and knowledge they need to be successful. We accomplish this through our 4-H Clubs, 4-H Community Programs, 4-H School Enrichment Programs and the 4-H Youth Mentor Program with the help of caring adult volunteers.

4-H is a learn-by-doing, fun, educational program designed to help youth in their growth and development and to compliment experiences received at home, school, church and other organizations. With the help of caring adult volunteers, 4-H clubs help young people gain the skills they need to be successful.
MSU Extension works with schools to offer classroom programs designed to complement the learning curricula and help youth develop life skills. Programs are delivered directly by staff as in the Riverside Water Quality Program that links Macomb County middle schools with classrooms in Nepal and indirectly by volunteers as in the Great Lakes Education Program.
The MSUE 4-H Youth Mentor Program has provided mentor services to Macomb County youth since 1991. We match qualified adult volunteers with Macomb County youth in need of guidance, encouragement, and direction. The goal is to prevent youth from becoming more deeply involved with the Court or FIA systems. We are a prevention program, proven to save county tax dollars by diverting youth from more costly levels of care and intervention.
