What is ABC, 123?

The ABC, 123 At Home With Me project is designed to prepare children to succeed in school by developing an interest in books and reading.  An educator visits families once a week, bringing books and activity ideas.  Each family can receive up to ten free books and an activity backpack.

What are the goals?

  • To increase pre-reading and math knowledge
  • To assist in school readiness
  • To increase parent-child interaction
  • To enhance the reading experience for children using pretend play, art, thinking & motor skills, music & movement, and math & science

Who can participate?

This program serves single-parent, low-income families with children under age four living in Macomb County

How do I start?

Parents meeting the above criteria can call MSU Extension directly.  Child care providers and community agency professionals can also refer families.  To contact MSU Extension's ABC, 123 program, call 586-469-7609.
