Upcoming Local Events

  • 4-H Day at the Breslin Center-Sunday, January 15th, 2012    Have fun and celebrate MSU Extension’s 4-H Program by joining up to 5,000 of your 4-H friends on January 15, 2012 at the MSU vs. Ohio State women’s basketball game at the MSU Breslin Center! 4-H youth and their families, 4-H volunteers and MSU Extension staff members and their families are all being offered FREE tickets to this Sunday game! The game starts at 4 p.m. with doors opening at 2 p.m. for MSUE/4-H free ticket holders. Last day to order tickets is January 9th.   • South East Leader Meet-Saturday, March 31st, 2012        This one day conference will be held at the Macomb Intermediate School District (44001 Garfield Road, Clinton Township, MI 48038) and is open to youth and adult leaders (age 11 and up). There will be over 25 different sessions offered throughout the day focusing on Animal Science, Leadership, Career Preparation, Entrepreneurship, State Awards, Farm Stands, Life Skills and much more. This is a great opportunity to meet leaders from across the region and learn new ideas to bring back to your county clubs and programs. Registration is only $20 and includes buffet lunch and all sessions  Must register by March 14th. Classes on filled on a first come, first serve basis. Click here for registration flyer.

 

Major Events and Programs

  • Animal Science: MSU Extension 4-H offers a large variety of expos, shows, and events to families and youth interested in animal science.
  • Armada Fair: This week long family event is held annually in August.  4-H youth can enter projects in the fair to be judged. Provides an opportunity to enhance their learning, receive recognition, meet friends, and have fun.
  • Capital Experience: 4-H Capitol Experience is an annual 4-day conference that focuses on civic engagement and public policy. More than 100 teens from around the state converge on Lansing, Michigan, to experience state government in action!
  • County Awards: This event is held every January to recognize the accomplishments of 4-H Youth, Volunteers, and Partners. See County Award Forms for more information.
  • Exploration Days: Youth age 11 to 19 from across the state participate in over 200 action-packed and fun classes. This three day event is held on MSU campus every June. 
  • 4-H Great Lakes and Natural Resource Camp: 4-H Great Lakes & Natural Resources Camp is an annual MSU pre-college program held in late July or early August on the northern shores of Lake Huron in Presque Isle, Michigan.
  • National Congress: Youth aged 15-19 from across the US can attend this premiere conference in Atlanta, Georgia where workshops are offered to enhance  leadership and  communication skills, expand  cultural awareness, explore careers, gain knowledge in science and technology and provide community serve opportunities. This five day Conference is held annually in November.
