Money Smart Week

National Endowment For Financial Education (NEFE) Training:

4-H Entrepreneurship Teen Leader and Adult Volunteer Workshop

Annually in February at Kettunen Center

Wonder how your passion for 4-H projects can turn into a business? Already a market livestock “boss”? Or perhaps you want to make a difference in Michigan by thinking “green” in the bioeconomy?

This entrepreneurship education workshop is for people like you who want to grow your knowledge about starting a business, growing a business, and making your money (profit) grow. If you dream of being your own boss, choose from one of these tracks: From Market Livestock Project to College Fund; Business 101; Nuts and bolts of Business Plans; Who Wants to be  a Millionaire and Mind Design:  It's Cool to be Green.

Each track will include fun, hands-on learning activities and resources to take home. Open to teens aged 13 and up and adults. Partial scholarships to attend are available to 4-H members and volunteers through the Macomb 4-H Council

  • Be the “E” Entrepreneurship
    Be the “E” Entrepreneurship 4-HCCS curriculum is a new and exciting way for middle and high school youth to learn if they have what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Visit www.n4hccs.org to order online.
  • Financial Champions Activities in this curriculum help youth understand their spending habits, identify their needs and wants, manage a checking account, calculate interest, set financial goals, make money decisions  and much, much more. Visit www.n4hccs.org to order online.

  • YoungBiz.com – This teen resource Web site is dedicated to helping youth create their own business models and entrepreneurial skills
  • www.hotshotbusiness.com-This award winning Internet simulation game gives millions of boys and girls the chance to runs a business in Opportunity City. The Kauffman Foundation teamed up with Disney on this creative site. A Teacher’s Guide is available along with numerous lessons. For youth ages 9 to 12.
  • www.moneynighttalk.com - On the site, parents get tips on how to talk to their kids about money and access resources endorsed by the Council for Economic Education, based on the organization's national content standards.
