Children's Immunizations

Do you know if your child is up to date with his or her vaccines? If you’re not sure, ask your health care provider, or contact any of our Macomb County Health Department Immunization Clinics.

  • Make sure your child is fully immunized. . Remember to immunize your children at birth and at 2, 4, 6, and 12-15 months of age. Immunize your children against dangerous vaccine-preventable diseases before they are two years old.
  • If your child is two years old or younger and has not been fully immunized, he or she may become seriously ill from a vaccine-preventable disease such as measles, whooping cough, or chickenpox.

  • Immunizations are one of the most important ways parents can protect their children against serious diseases.
  • Each day, 11,000 babies are born in the United States who will need to be immunized against twelve diseases before age two.
  • Infants and young children are particularly vulnerable to infectious diseases; that is why it is critical that they are protected through immunizations.
  • Children are far more likely to be harmed by serious infectious diseases than by immunization. Immunization protects families and communities. Children who are not immunized increase the chance that others will get the disease.
  • Vaccinations need to occur throughout our life span—not just in childhood. Adults need a Td booster every ten years and flu vaccine yearly.
