Child Health Services


The Macomb County Health Department offers services to help families meet the needs of children with chronic medical conditions. Services are comprehensive and may include paying specialty medical bills, coordinating health insurance benefits, and covering copays and deductibles. The program covers children from birth to 21 years old (Lifetime coverage for individuals with Cystic Fibrosis, Hemophilia, and other certain blood clotting disorders).

Qualifying Medical Conditions

CSHCS covers more than 2,000 diagnoses.

Some examples are:

  • Anemia - Sickle Cell
  • Birth Defects/Cleft Lip/Palate/Spina Bifida
  • Cancer
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Cystic Fibrosis, other Lung conditions
  • Diabetes/Insulin Dependent
  • Epilepsy, other Neurological conditions
  • Eye/Hearing conditions
  • Heart conditions
  • Hemophilia
  • Limb Deformity and Amputations
  • Liver/Kidney conditions
  • Muscular Dystrophy/Paralysis
  • Orthopedic conditions
