The Macomb County Health Department operates the county's animal shelter. Services include pet adoptions, lost and found for pets, animal cruelty investigations, dog licensing, animal bite reports, and rescue services for domestic animals and injured or sick wildlife..

Shelter Hours:

Monday:  10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday:  10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Wednesday:    Noon - 6:00 p.m.

Thursday: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Friday:     10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Saturday: 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Sunday: Closed to Public



To better accommodate our residents, the Animal Shelter will have extended hours beginning on August 19th, 2013.
The Shelter hours of operation will be as follows:

Monday through Friday:  10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Saturday: Closed to Public

Sunday: Closed to Public


Adoptions end 30 minutes prior to closing time; All resident services cease 15 minutes prior to closing time.

Staff is available by phone beginning at 8:00 a.m., Monday through Friday.

Please Note, the Shelter will be closed on the following upcoming dates:

    Friday, August 30, 2013      County Furlough Day

    Monday, September 02, 2013   Labor Day     


Effective February 2012:  Trapped wildlife will only be accepted if involved in a human bite, is injured or if exhibiting signs of illness.
