Senior Citizen Services

Resource Advocacy Program

 

Resource Advocates are trained professionals that visit clients in the home, office, or a common meeting place to assess each individual's needs and guide them to appropriate resources in the community.  

They assist older adults with forms such as:

  • Medicare
  • Medicare D
  • Department of Human Services Applications (Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc.)
  • Michigan State Homestead Tax Rebate
  • Michigan State Heating Credit
  • Social Security forms
  • Health insurance resources for the uninsured
  • Government provided emergency cell phone applications

Resource Advocates will give presentations to senior groups on many topics such as:

    • Social Security issues
    • Medicare and Medicare D
    • County services
    • Housing options
    • Prescription programs
    • Current topics in the aging field

Many programs have eligibility requirements.
